Cal. 45 2 1/10 (45-70). S#. 200060. Bbl. 30" No. 4 weight with Bridgeport address. Rocky Mtn. front with leaf rear sight. Left side of the action is marked with a boxed "A". Double set triggers. Schnabel tipped forend & straight grip stock with steel rifle buttplate and rectangular lid patch box. Weight 11 lbs. 1.6 oz. Approx. 700 A Series rifles were mfg. from 1879-1882 in the 200001-200700 serial # range. They were assembled from left over parts, many using altered percussion actions. Most were shipped to Carlos Gove or J. P. Lower of Denver Colorado. CONDITION: metal finish has largely faded to gray showing scattered very light pitting. Sanded & refinished wood shows dents & marks. Both side of the forend are missing large ships. Sound action and triggers. Bright bore retains strong rifling.
